Add and create screening questions directly in a recruitment

Let the system handle the initial screening of your applications. This is particularly useful when publishing a job ad that is likely to receive many applications, allowing you to quickly get an overview of qualified candidates.

Who can use the feature?
All users, regardless of permissions: Can add individual existing questions or questions from existing templates, change the order of questions and answer options.
Administrators and authorized users: Can create and edit questions, edit and add answer options, assign points, mark answer options as mandatory, and make the question mandatory to answer.

Step-by-step
1. Create a new recruitment
2. Go to the Application form
3. Scroll down to Screening questions

You can choose to retrieve questions from existing templates and/or add/remove questions. If you have permission to create new questions, you can also do that here. If you do not have permission to create new questions, contact your administrator.

Start by retrieving questions from existing question templates
Select from a list of existing question templates available in your account and click Add.

Add individual questions
Start typing the question in the "Add question" field to see existing questions in your account.

A new window will open where you can write any clarifications for the question, choose the question type, and decide if the question should be mandatory. Depending on the question type you select, the settings will be adjusted accordingly, such as answer options, points, and mandatory requirements.

Create new questions
As an administrator or a user with permission, you can also create your own questions. You can do this by clicking on "Add question" and then creating a new question.

A new window will open where you can write any clarifications for the question, choose the question type, and decide if the question should be mandatory. Depending on the question type you select, the settings will be adjusted accordingly, such as answer options, points, and mandatory requirements.

Question types to choose from
Single-choice question:
Example: Do you have a driver’s license?
Yes or No
(Only one answer option can be selected)

Multiple-choice question:
Example: Select the systems you have previously worked with.
Excel, Word, PowerPoint
(Multiple answer options can be selected)

Text question:
Example: Write a few lines about why we should hire you?
(The candidate is given the opportunity to provide a free-text answer)

Video question:
Example: Tell us briefly about yourself?
(The candidate is given the option to record a short video clip or upload one)

How scoring works:

  • The maximum score a candidate can receive on a single-choice question is the score of the highest answer option.

  • For a multiple-choice question, the maximum score is the sum of the points for all selected options.

  • The candidate’s total score is calculated by adding up all the points for the selected answer options and dividing by the maximum score for all questions. The result is then displayed as a percentage from 0–100% in the application list.

Example calculation:

If a candidate answers as follows:

  • Multiple-choice question (max score is 170):

    • Answer b (50 points) and c (100 points)
    • Candidate's score on the question: 50 + 100 = 150 points
  • Single-choice question (max 100 points):

    • Chooses b (70 points)
    • Total score: 70 points

Calculation of the candidate’s score:

  • Candidate's total score: 150 + 70 = 220
  • Maximum score: 170 + 100 = 270
  • Percentage result displayed in the application list: 220/270 = 81.5% (Rounded to 82%)

Preview before publishing:
1. Click on the Publish tab.
2. Select which channel you want to preview the ad on.

Please note that previewing is not available if the career page uses an API solution. In this case, you can check that the changes work after clicking Publish.
